Medical & Emergency Disclaimer
5.1 Not a medical provider
Trunion provides non-medical care coordination and companionship support. Its team and the independent Caregivers are not substitutes for doctors, nurses or hospitals. A Caregiver may remind the Elder to take medicines exactly as prescribed, but will not change doses, start or stop medicines, or perform medical procedures such as injections, IV lines or wound care. The Client or Elder is responsible for supplying prescriptions and medicines, and the Caregiver may keep a simple medication log.
5.2 Emergency coordination limits
Every Plan includes 24/7 coordination help in a medical emergency, such as calling an ambulance and helping with hospital admission. Trunion coordinates; it does not itself provide emergency medical services. Ambulance operators, hospitals and doctors are independent third parties. Trunion cannot guarantee their availability, response time or clinical outcomes. Their charges are independent and payable directly by the Client.
5.3 Emergency consent and contacts
The Client confirms they can consent to emergency treatment for the Elder, and agrees that Trunion and the Caregiver may call an ambulance and share necessary health information with medical staff in a threat to life. The Client must keep emergency contacts and the preferred hospital up to date.
5.4 Client duty to disclose
The Client must tell Trunion about any condition that affects care or safety, including infectious or contagious illness, dementia or wandering risk, fall history and aggressive behaviour. Trunion may delay or end a placement where a risk was not disclosed.
5.5 Limits on what Caregivers do
Caregivers do not make decisions about do-not-resuscitate or end-of-life care. They will not lift or transfer a bedridden Elder alone. The Client is responsible for wheelchairs, walkers, monitors and other equipment.
5.6 Liability
Trunion's liability is limited as set out in section 3 (Limitation of Liability).
